Where/How does one best find an audience?
I did an email newsletter for a local ministry for several years. I have since moved on, but miss the experience. I had a lot of fun. A friend of mine, who co-wrote a weekly article with me in the newsletter recently expressed a desire to revive our article, we just have no outlet.
I've had interest in starting a newsletter or ezine type thing anyway. Before, I already had an existing audience and everything I needed. Just had to make it and hit "send."
Solo, however, I am starting from scratch, and not sure what would be best to do or where to even start.

I was hoping some other publishers would jump in on your question before I did, but maybe everyone's sitting here with the same burning question! :-)
Not to get promotional on you, but I recommend checking out my e-book "Start Your Ezine: The Fluff-Free Guide for the New Publisher." It's available at http://StartYourEzine.com.
I wrote it for folks just like you in mind and it covers pretty much everything you would ever need to know to get started including interactive worksheets to help you get going.
On a more general level, some things to keep in mind:
~ Quality of your list is more important than the Quantity of your list. In other words, be willing to take the time to thoughtfully grow your list with subscribers who want to receive your ezine, not just as many subs as you can get.
~ Valuable content: Offer them value via your content in every issue of your ezine. This will help them eagerly await each issue and position you as someone valuable in your field.
~ Don't overcommit: don't start a daily or a weekly just because you are excited now. It's unprofessional not to deliver your ezine when you say you are going to just because you get burnt out. Start slowly with a monthly. You can always increase the frequency.
~ Remember*why* you are publishing your ezine at all times!
These are just a few ideas off the top of my head. Keep us posted on your launch, and if you have any other questions, ask.

Thanks for the input. I was already debating on the frequency and content along the same lines you mentioned. I also kinda needed to hear the "quality" vs "quantity" comment about subscribers. Good thing to be reminded of.

It would take some time, but I think it might get

I've done that a lot with one of mine and it works well.
Just a paragraph or so to entice them to come to the site and read.
Be sure to include capture info and a referral process so they can refer others to your ezine.

I could design one for brides and one to target wedding
vendors. Wedding Vendors advertise in my magazine.

I'm with Jan on this one. Just make sure that you get folks to properly double opt-in to your list, don't just assume that because they gave you their info at a show or what not that they want to receive your ezine, we don't want to see you get into trouble with your 1st issue!
Other things you can do to entice subscriber sign up:
~ On your magazine site, post your subscription form loud and clear on every page.
~ Offer incentives (free report, etc...) for people who sign up
~ Maybe run a contest in which you draw the winner from monthly new subscribers.

I think on the first issue I send out, I will ask the
bride or vendor to sign up if they would like to receive
future issues of the newsletter.
A monthly ezine just might be what I need to get brides and
vendors to the website more often.
I've got a lot to work on.
